International Inspiration at Parkhall Cricket

Our Year 8 and Year 10 cricketers had an unforgettable experience this week, training with international cricket star Oshadi Ranasinghe from Muckamore Cricket Club.

Oshadi enjoyed a fantastic 13-year career representing Sri Lanka over 100 times, playing in major competitions such as the Cricket World Cup and the Commonwealth Games. As vice-captain, she helped guide her team to an impressive fifth place in the world ODI rankings.

Her achievements include a brilliant unbeaten 50 against England and a five-wicket haul against Bangladesh—just two examples of her world-class ability.

During her visit, Oshadi delivered engaging, high-energy coaching sessions, sharing her knowledge, skills, and passion for cricket. Our pupils gained valuable insight into both the technical and mental aspects of the game.

Year 8 (age 11): “She helped me improve my bowling and made it really fun. I feel more confident now.”

Year 10 (age 14): “It was inspiring hearing about her career. It made me realise how much hard work goes into being your best.”

We are incredibly grateful to Oshadi for giving her time and inspiring our young players. Experiences like this continue to show what is possible both on and off the field at Parkhall.
