ICT

The ICT department in Parkhall Integrated College seeks to enable our students to achieve their highest academic potential and to develop their practical, social and personal skills with the support of ICT. Through our ICT Policy and teaching we aim:

  • To enhance the quality of teaching and learning
  • To ensure pupils develop an appreciation of the central role that ICT plays in our society both in the world of work and leisure.
  • To facilitate staff ICT development

Key Stage 3

The ICT Department aims to introduce pupils to the latest software during discrete ICT lessons. All work that pupils complete can be found on Google Classroom.

Key Stage 4

At Key Stage 4 the ICT department aims to provide courses that are tailored to all pupils’ abilities. The following courses are currently offered to Key Stage 4 Pupils:

  • Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Information Creative Technology
  • CCEA Occupational Studies (CCEA)

Key Stage 5

At Key Stage 5 the ICT department offers Post 16 pupils a course in Cambridge Technicals ICT. The course consists of 5 units of work which include 2 exam units and 3 portfolio units.

Facilities

The ICT department is very well resourced. Each classroom has a 65" interactive screen and for discrete ICT classes each pupil has access to a networked PC with all the latest software available. Each ICT Teacher has access to an iPad and a Microsoft Surface Pro to assist with their teaching. At KS4 and KS5 level online storage is widely used both in school and at home by pupils. Each class at KS3 has a Google Classroom that can be used to access all work.
